Amanda Knox article in The Stranger offers different perspective
We saw a huge upswing in traffic last week, after Amanda Knox's parents were featured on 20/20 defending their daughter. Remember Amanda? The UW student caught up in an Italian murder case, who we wrote about ad nauseum after the case broke last November? Well she's still in jail, but the press - both local and national - seems to be expressing a new-found interest in the case as of late.
Yet instead of focusing on Knox as a suspect, they're painting her as a victim. In the 20/20 interview, her mother complained that "jail's not easy," as if forgetting why her daughter is there in the first place; meanwhile, Knox's sister says the suspect "cares about everyone else before herself." We're sure Patrick Lumumba would agree.
Of course, as the Honest Blogger notes (rather obscenely), this outpouring of support from family and friends is not surprising:
Now other voices, those not bound by family ties, are coming out and painting a different picture. This week's edition of The Stranger has got an in-depth piece on the case: Charles Mudede, author of philosophical musings that have drawn the ire of cranky SLOG commenters but whose "Police Beat" column is the best thing in the weekly paper, traveled to Perugia to write about the case from a first-hand perspective. The most revealing quotes in his piece come not from Perugia, but the World Cup cafe in Seattle's U-District, where Knox used to work.
During a visit there before his departure to Italy, Mudede ran into "Matthew," an old college buddy who currently works at the World Cup. This man's testimonial contradicted the picture-perfect image that Knox's family and friends have been relaying so far:

Her parents may be firmly behind her, but in truth who's parents would turn round and say, "Yeah I think she did it - I've always thought my daughter could be a murdering little bitch." - GET FUCKING REAL.It would never happen, nor should it...families have an obligation to defend their own, and I think you'd be hard-pressed to find parents anywhere who love their child and would be willing to admit their faults, even if there was a mountain of evidence suggesting otherwise.

"You know," Matthew said, leaning toward me, "a lot of people are saying she is a sweet girl and they can't believe she could have done such a thing. But, to be honest, I'm not surprised she is a suspect. Really. The first time I met her, when I got the job here, she asked me if I was Jewish. I told her I was. She then screamed: 'My people killed your people,' and began laughing hysterically. I didn't know what to say. She just kept laughing about her Germans killing my Jews. After that, I did not like her. She really freaked me out."Charming. You're right, Mom and Dad...she sounds like a lovely girl.
How does a story proclaiming Amanda Knox's guilt offer a different perspective? Search the Internet. Where do you find anything BUT negative stories about her, including yours?
Where in all of your story was any attempt made to seek balance or to be fair to someone who is locked up in prison and can't speak for herself?
You really should change that headline.
Read the post, Isabella. By a "different perspective," I was referring to a perspective different from those offered by Knox's family and friends in recent media reports. I think I was fairly clear on that point.
I've never "proclaimed" whether I think Ms. Knox is inherently guilty or innocent in any of these posts; I simply offer gather voices from around the world and blogosphere to provide reasoned perspective on them.
It is like this, she didn't get a lawyer, she wasn't interviewed in her own language, the cops probably did hit her, and the tabloid crap from the Brits is a bit myopic given their sociopathic world.
A kid in the USA is far more likely to be groomed over the internet by a Brit teacher than by a American educator. One teacher in the UK got off by telling the board he was controlled by aliens, (I'm not kidding). The Brits are psychiatric, it is a pedophile friendly country.
Brit teachers do more sex crime than the combined total of MAPPA offenders, so that is like the sex offender register, parole, probation etc. rolled into one. British teachres are a sex crime phenomena.

7 children 'may be buried at Jersey care home'
By Caroline Gammell in St Martin, Jersey

The bodies of at least seven children may be buried at a former care home in what police fear is one of the worst instances of child abuse in Britain. The remains of a skeleton were discovered on Saturday under the concrete floor of Haut de la Garenne in Jersey.

The Italian system will keep Ms Knox if there is half a case to answer. In Britain the cops are not allowed to do teachers, care-workers or the politically sensitive.
They wait for the FBI to call and do their teachers when the USA catches them doing kids here. Sex abuse in the UK is 'character forming', It is a national disease. They care more about dogs.
When the Brit cops stop me I just smile and tell the assholes to arrest one of their pervert teachers or escort me to the plane or boat.
If a cop in the UK was to arrest a couple of teachers his career would be over.
It is not like the USA.

For which the whole of the rest of the world can be truely thankful.
You have obviously got some issues around child abuse. What this has got to do with the case in point is unclear. It is also unclear why you hate the British so much - or is it?
What you say about teachers in Britain is not only totally wrong and a terrible slur on thousands of hard working professionals, it is also xenophobic to an extreme. It hasn't got anything to do with Amanda Knox either!

So, you trying to make me cry with my memories of a tortured childhood? Put it this way,
there is no prison in the USA that can do to me anything that ain't been already done.
So, Sleepers, is your answer,
what you expect, I straightened it out, wouldn't be able to sleep if I hadn't. Life ain't fair, it's just competitive.
In 1998 the Brits produced about 18 percent of the global total. The British do about 25 million child pornography transactions per annum.

There is some of them, note the fact the USA had to go find them for ya all (as usual). Brit teachers clocked 1,200 US & Canadian kids last year.
Brit teachers are top of everywhere's pedophile shit list, from Thailand to Timbuktu.

By the way the NCIS were warned about that pedophile torture murder chamber of a school years ago they didn't do anything about it.
The NCIS like pedophiles. I can even do an FBI joke for you. Hot off a state.gov related listserv. One of their G/TIP hugfest lists.
UK) CEOP do not do teachers or care-workers.

Britain's crack anti-pedophile unit, use to be part of the NCIS.
So it is the second time they're ignoring that pedophile Dachau. Just so you know.
We're not dum in the states, just got our hands tied in Iraq. We need you Brits to keep us supplied with that air base in the Indian ocean.
The price the Brits put on that was our govt. keeping it's mouyth shut about your pedophile teachers.
The best the FBI can do is drop hints (which are devoutly ignored) or black humor.
Happy to forward the latter.
Go Yorktown!

I know "Matthew"- the jewish coworker. He told me that story when it happened. He has added and changed some of the details since then. The "laughed and laughed" part, for instance. He's a drama queen and loving this.
